I Found Her - Ep. 5

I have always loved the sunrise no matter how many times I might have seen it. But it became much more special when the first sunrays fell on Jahnavi’s exquisite face. Her curves and dimples became more prominent and her eyelids fluttered open like a newly born pigeon’s wings. And again, just like before, my heart stopped for a micro second and then shot up my throat when she smiled. I could almost envision myself in the clouds.
The plush Volvo seats were comfortable enough to make us forget that we were sitting and to sleep like kids without a care in the world. The sleep was made much more deep and treasured, because we were holding each other’s hand while sleeping. I had dreamt of her and finding her right beside me on waking up gave a settled feeling in my stomach that could only be described as satisfaction.
We reached our respective homes by 9 AM and went through the motions of the day as usual but all the time keeping in touch via SMSes and calls. I liked how we each knew what the other was doing all through the day. To an extent it was as if we were watching each all the time.
A week after that trip, I decided to take her out once again. When I asked her if it was possible for her to come out that evening, she asked me to postpone the program by a day as her relatives were coming over. It was the same ones whom we had met in Bangalore while coming back.
So, the next day both of us were waiting for 6 PM each asking the other,
“When will it be 6 PM?”
At 6PM, we met at Hyderabad Central and started looking for options as to where shall we go out for dinner. Neither of us were planners and both depended on on-the-spot decisions so much that we came across as impulsive. I had suddenly asked my dad to give me the car for this evening and asking so suddenly, had surprised him into saying yes. I did have to run then before he changed his mind, but I didn’t mind that now as Jahnavi and I were driving around trying to search for a good spot.
Crossing Toli Chowk, we saw the Domino’s Pizza outlet there and both of us agreed to dine there and then go to Kwality Walls for Dessert. I parked the car and while Jahnavi entered the Restaurant. By the time I came in she had sit down by a table for two near the corner. I sat down with her and we ordered pizzas, garlic breads and soft drinks.
We talked about different things ranging from how our day was to our plans for our near future. By the time we were finished with our dinner, we were blank and back to the phase of enjoying the silent company.
On reaching Kwality Walls, we ordered a sundae each. But we shared them with each other. Sometimes eating from other’s bowl and sometimes spooning each other. It was one of the few moments in my life that I wished would never pass.
I don’t know what happened to me but suddenly I started off:
“Jahnavi!”
“Ha, tell me..”
“Remember when we first met in the train??”
“Yeah! I shall never forget that!”
“Why?”
“Because I met someone special that day.”

“Hahaha! What did you feel that day?”
“I still don’t understand what I felt that day.”
“Tell me something at least. Try to describe it.”
“I think…”
“You think?”
“I guess I felt complete.”
“Complete?”
“Yup! As if I needed nothing else in life except to spend time with you. I wanted to just stay with you forever.”

“Mmmhmm? And how come you came for shopping and movie that day? Normally also you are that extrovert, eh? Ouch!!!”
She slaps me on the hand. A bit too hard.
“I ain’t that kinda girl! That day I was feeling lonely and bored when you messaged me. So I thought what the hell and came with you, that’s all.”
“Hahahaha.... And what do you feel now??”
“I feel like someone loves me as much as I love him!”
And she takes my hand and kisses it. We go out of the restaurant hand in hand.

Ravings of a Frustrated Student...

"Mummy, mummy, may I go for Cricket???" These were the words uttered by Ravi, the only son in an Indian Middle Class Family, a tenth class student. His Mom replied, "What? Again Cricket!!! You were playing cricket the whole of morning. Even yesterday, you played the whole day. Isn't that enough???" As if all the elements were against him today, his Dad enters the room at the same time. He looks at Ravi and says, "Look, son! Your 10th class is a most important milestone in your life. If you clear your 10th with flying colors, your life is as good as settled. So just work hard for these exams and after the exams you can enjoy as much as you want!!" On hearing his father explaining to him in such comforting and soothing words, Ravi feels the importance of his studies and studies hard for his 10th... To his credit, he clears his 10th with such a high score that he can be counted among the best students in his school. I am sure, most of us have gone

I Found Her!!!

Late… Again late… Man, this had become a habit with me… If my dad knew that I was reaching the Station exactly about 5 mins before scheduled departure, he would give me a piece of his mind for sure. I checked the platform number and ran into the station huffing like a bull. Finding S8, I jumped onto the stairs and pushed through the people, waving away at their families, searching for my seat. A small wave of relief swept through me when I sat down in the window seat allocated to me. Of all the berths in the train, I always liked and preferred the Side Lower Berth as it gave me a kind of freedom. Noticing that the seat before me was empty, I wondered who could be sitting with me through this journey and how they might be. Train journeys always gave me a new experience as I got to meet new people. Sometimes, I tend to ignore everyone if I don’t like them much. But today, I didn’t have a novel and I had lost my earphones recently. Thus, I had no other way to pass my time except

Women – Divine yet Demeaned!!!

Women have to play many roles. And each of these roles interact with men in different ways. When she is born, she plays the role of a daughter. A cute little babe, who brings light to the household and more often than not, luck to the father. Growing up she becomes the girl who is expected to excel in studies to become an independent woman while at home she is expected to learn making a home and help her mother. Once she has grown into a maiden, she has to deal with so many guys trying to vie for her. And if she falls in love with someone, then comes the dilemma and the tensions about the colony resident’s words, family’s feelings and the confusions of love and infatuation. Once she takes on the mantle of a wife and then a mother. Balancing between both these roles itself is a big management issue and over that if she is a working women, then the complications increase exponentially. (I think women don’t need to be trained in management, they can be given MBA degrees f
